I have been a member at Hill Barn Golf Club for the past 8 year and all of that time a member of the senior section, known as the HOGGS. I thought I would like to share my views of our Golf Club and the course. Richard and Sally Haygarth purchased Hill Barn in 2003 and invested in many improvements in both the course and club house. A new irrigation system was put in to improve the greens, new machinery was purchased to cut and maintain the course, new ball washers, hole information boards and rubbish bins installed and along with a dedicated Green Staff, over the 8 years the course has improved immensely. A new Head Green Keeper, Andy started in the latter part of the year 2010, and he is constantly working and improving the bunkers (103 I think there are and I have been in all of them) on the course. The Club House has had many alterations to the benefit of the members, with a very courteous and friendly staff to run it, with much improved meals. Speaking as a member of the HOGGS we have a terrific system for drawing Tee Times on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the members are a great bunch of guys. There are over 210 Male Members at Hill Barn with at least 80 Hoggs plus a strong Ladies and Junior sections. With the membership including two other golf courses, I am very pleases and happy to be a member and hope the membership will increase even more over the next few years. I would like to thank Richard and Sally for all they have done and are still doing and I hope you will remain owners of Hill Barn for a long time, which I am sure will become one of the best Golf Courses in West Sussex. But please don’t become too complacent, we will always find something to moan about as all good club members will do when looking to improve things even more! Brian Turner |
