Golf at Hill Barn

18 Hole Course | Par 70

The Course

The course at Hill Barn Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole, par-70 layout set in the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park. Designed by renowned architect Fred Hawtree and opened in 1935, the course blends parkland and downland features with undulating fairways, subtly sloping greens, and over 100 bunkers that provide a fair but testing challenge for golfers of all abilities. Elevated tees and the natural contours of the landscape offer panoramic views across Worthing and the English Channel, while the chalk-based soil ensures excellent drainage, allowing for enjoyable year-round play.

“So next time you are up on the 15th fairway, on a glorious summer day and about to take your second shot, look east towards the vast sprawl of Brighton and the proud Seven Sisters. Then move slowly round, looking across the red roof of Worthing and the shimmering sea, towards the misty outline of the Isle of Wight. Keep turning, much closer to home now, to the green slopes of Mount Carvey, rising above Worthing’s lower course, and think to yourself, one day when I go to that great golf course in the sky, perhaps this is what it will be like. ”
